Grading: Medical Language Lab

Grades record to your Learning Management System automatically as you complete work in Medical Language Lab, so check your LMS Grade Center as you complete work.

Grades for each module (e.g. "Integumentary System") are an average of the several individual exercises within that module (Critical Listening, Response, Practice, etc.). Your grade for each module will reflect your score on the work you've completed in that module so far prior to the due date. Once the due date passes, however, any incomplete exercises will be given a 0, and your module score adjusts accordingly. Be sure to complete every exercise in each module before the due date!

While grading options can be changed by each instructor, many Medical Language Lab classes use a grading setting called Practice then Grade.

All grading options are as follows:

    1. Practice and then grade: Students will be able to attempt the assessment multiple times. When satisfied with their score, they will be able to submit it to the instructor.
    2. No Grade (Practice only): Students will be able to attempt exercises as many times as they’d like. Grades are not sent to the LMS gradebook.
    3. Grade on First Attempt: Students may only take the assessment once. Students’ scores will immediately be submitted

If you see a "Review" button pop up after completing an assignment, know that your class is using "Practice and then grade", which means you can "Review" your answers as many times as you'd like before you ultimately "Submit" for a grade. Note that grades are not recorded until you click "Submit", and that you cannot improve your grade once you have clicked Submit.

Please click Review if you are looking to take the assignment again to improve your score. Once you've clicked Submit, you will not be able to record another score.

Note: Some Medical Language Lab courses are set up with a pacing structure called the "Tollgate Approach". If the Tollgate Approach has been selected for your course, you must complete 100% of each assigned exercise within a chapter module (e.g. "Body Structure) before you will be able to start the next one. You will not be able to start upcoming modules until you have fully completed all of the exercises in the prior one.
